Who did I work with to compose my project? I did my own personal research for this project.
Was this a good approach? With this particular project I think other people o pinions would have been somewhat useful. What was the most difficult part of my writing process? Verifying all my facts was really important to me since I was speaking on some well-known topics and events. So in tern became a little more difficult. Why? I had to be sure all my numbers were right. I did not want to loose credibility. What did I do to overcome the obstacles? I tried not to relay on just one source. When did I write this project? I this the night it was due. Good approach? No it was a horrible approach, I never learn though. Where did I write this project? Half was done at school and the rest was done at home. Good approach? Yes it was a pretty good idea, I was able to catch more mistakes than usual. Why did I choose to write about my chosen topic? It’s a topic I hold dear to my hurt being from a different country. How will I adapt/revise my writing process for future revision of this project? [Be specific. Review your current six-step writing process plan and consider posting a new six-step plan.] I really want to talk more about the other side of things. Research more I have already started doing more research to revise. Don’t cut it too close, give myself enough time to get more done. Start way before I need to, I can always go back and fix it. Don’t do it all at once, always leave time for error. Get someone else prospective, fore eyes are always better than two.

ENG 100 Assignment #3: Film-Based Argument Due: Draft #1 posted to blog by 11:59pm on 3/23/17 Survivor In the film, Survivor, the screenwriter Philip Shelby writes about Kate Abbott’s trying to prove her innocence while stopping terrorist attack. Abbott is a Foreign Service officer who learns of a plot that a sniper will shoot a gas bomb in Time square on New Years’ Eve at the drop of the ball and take millions of innocent lives. Can American governmental ban on Muslims from specific countries justify recent terroristic attacks across the world? In the film Survivor screenwriter Shelby really allowed viewers to see how easily terrorist can slip through the cracks and enter in the U.S. Emil Balan for instance was able to get his hands on a Visa under a different name. Abbott had suspicions about Balan but the fact that his wife died while waiting to come to America to seek medical treatment made the case a tricky one. Abbott was trying to do her job to the best of her ability, but they had an inside man. Terrorist are not just found in other countries, there are so many cases just here in the U.S. alone that are disturbing. A common definition of terrorism is the systematic use or threatened use of Violence in order to intimidate a population or government and thereby affect political, religious, or ideological change. Take the case of the Charleston Church shooting “Dylann Roof, 21, allegedly entered the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church during a weekly Bible study meeting and opened around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Eight people were found dead at the scene, police said. Two others were transported to a hospital, where one later died.” (Kelly Chen). They were targeted because of their skin color. He went in and sat through the bible study for a while. He pretty much gained their trusts and then decided to take their lives with a gun that was given to him by his father as a birthday gift. Another recent case was the Orlando, Florida Nightclub shooting “The attacker, Identified by law enforcement officials as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old who was born in New York, turned what had been a celebratory night of dancing to salsa and merengue music at the crowded Pulse nightclub into a panicked scene of unimaginable slaughter, the floors slicked with blood, the dead and injured piled atop one another. Terrified people poured onto the darkened streets of the surrounding neighborhood, some carried wounded victims to safety, and police vehicles were pressed into service as makeshift ambulances to rush people to hospitals.”(Lizette Alvarez and Richard Perez-pena). This was deemed the worst terroristic act on America soil since 9/11, and the deadliest on gay target in the history of the nation. The have been countless of terroristic acts on the American soil that were carried out by people that have no Muslims lies. Can recent terroristic attacks across the world justify an American governmental ban on Muslims from specific countries? I personally don’t think it justify the Muslims ban. I think there are a lot of people living in the U.S. right now that are capable of horrible crimes. Like the ones stated above. I think there should be something done to prevent terrorist from reaching American soil. I don’t think this is the way to go about it though. A refugee fleeing a war torn country will be turn down due to where they were born. This is a country that states you have the freedom of religion. The U.S. putting a ban on only Muslims countries is creating segregation. There are people from those countries that left their loved ones behind. It’s just a really sad situation for those that doing all the right thing. As an immigrant from a war torn country I am truly sadden by the Muslim ban. Prompt: I think we should focus on a parent’s love. Bill did what any loving parent would do under his circumstance. The beginning of the movie was painful to watch. They just born that person alive. It just broke my heart to think that could’ve possibly happen to someone else. We should write about what the families of soldiers goes through.
Purpose: Persuade Audience: Peers, classmates, anyone on the site Focus: A parent's love for their child and how for they would go. Style: Argumentative writing
Survivor: This was an action movie that took place in London. It was very well put together. Kate Abbott the main character was born and raised in the US. She left when she was in collage to finish her education in London. She worked on top cases for the Bureau of Diplomatic security. At one point in her career she was able to stop a plot to bomb the American Embassy. Kate was very good at her job which cost problem for her in return. Her co-worker Bill Talbot kept getting in the way of her getting her job done properly. At some point in the movie they all went out to celebrate Bill’s birthday. Naomi Mentioned Bill pre-ordering the pressed duck for all of them. They all realized they had forgotten to get him a present. As fate could have it Kate was the only one willing to go back out and find Bill something. Before she returned, the restaurant was bombed. She lost everyone she went with to the restaurant. When she tried to get help she was faced with reality. Someone was trying to kill her. This person could track her every move. He was well known and well disguised due to plastic surgeries. He was one of the best assassins in the world. As she try to make sense of what was going on she realized she was wanted for the deaths of her co-workers. So the rest of the movie she is trying to stay alive while keeping terrorist from entering the US. Quotes: Bill- is there a problem? Dr. Balan- I certainly hope not Bill- let me see this Kate- I’m not done with my review. Bill- A word. Kate- You don’t think it’s strange that a GP, who also happens to be a researcher, wants to attend a pediatrics conference? Bill- There’s, nothing odd about moonlighting as a consultant to make a few extra bucks. Besides, Naomi already did the background check. Balan’s fine. Kate- I’ll be the judge of that. Bill- look, I know you were a high-flyer in D.C. Kate- I am not here on vacation. Bill- Even when it’s slow, we’re not processing people fast enough. We’re seriously understaffed. So when paperwork gets held up by security, people start missing flights, and I’m the one that has to deal with their complaints. Unless you wanna suffer the Ambassador’s wrath. Kate- I’m doing my job, Bill. Bill- we all are. |
